DTN COMMENTS:  The bids that are currently on the table continue to be 
passed this afternoon, but packer inquiries should continue this 
afternoon and tomorrow, although it is possible that the bulk of business 
could essentially be completed for the week. 

Today's slaughter totaled 112,000 head, 2,000 less than last week, and 
12,000 below a year ago. Live cattle futures closed modestly to sharply 
lower, off 27 to 175, while feeder issues ended the day sharply lower, 
off 367 to 555. Beef cutouts are expected to close mixed with light to 
moderate box movement.
